Rolling Sessions
Everyone who sits in a kayak for the first time feels insecure. The kayak not only feels unstable it may frequently threaten to flip over.
For the Inuit of Alaska & Greenland being able to roll after a capsize could be a matter of life or death. The same is true for sea kayakers who may be many kilometres from shore in rough seas when a capsize occurs
You know that you can easily exit the boat should it tip over, so you can feel more relaxed, but each "wet exit" fills the boat with water that must be emptied. Avoiding this chore is a great motivation for learning to roll!
Beginners rolling sessions are held on the gently sloping sandy beach at West Lakes. Attending a rolling session will develop your knowledge and skills level.
Session dates & times:
Thursday, 24 February, 6.30pm - 8.00pm
Thursday, 03 March, 6.30 - 8.00pm
Thursday, 24 March, 6.30 - 8.00pm
Cost - $20.00 per session
Bring your own kayak, or we will supply a white-water play boat
For further information on rolling sessions in 2011 please contact Canoe SA for details.
Please Note: A course may be cancelled where the weather is deemed to be unsatisfactory or unsafe. Where a course is cancelled by Canoe SA you will be offered attendance at another course within 3 months. Please see Canoe SA Refund Policy for a full description of conditions. CLICK HERE
